Having grown up in Vermont, this is the only place that has ever truly been my home. After earning my Bachelor in Architecture degree, I ventured to Colorado for several years looking to begin my professional career, earn a Master Degree and become professionally licensed architect in a place that shared many of the aspects that Vermont had provided me through my early years. While in Vail I worked for Gwathmey Pratt Schultz Architects, a well established firm with a history dating back to the beginning’s of Vail as a destination resort. Colorado nurtured me as a young professional while affording me the opportunities to ski, mountain bike, explore the out of doors and sparked my passion for fly fishing. This too was the place where I first met my wife on the slopes of Beaver Creek Ski Resort.
Upon returning to my Vermont roots, I joined the Cushman Design Group in the town where I grew up and spent 12 years developing into the lead architect position, working directly with clients on all aspects of their projects from the architectural designs, to the interior and landscape designs.
Throughout my career I have had the opportunity to work on residential projects of varying scale from very large and complex custom homes to very compact homes and small renovations. Other projects have included; a small student built treehouse for a local Vermont elementary school, high end ski-in/ski-out townhomes with multiple owners & customization, new construction of commercial/retail buildings and interior commercial tenant/restaurant fit-up. Other opportunities have included supporting real estate agents and their clients find the right building site or home with renovation needs and a 20 year outdoor education school campus master planning/building(s) design.
With the start of my own design firm in 2015, I continue to focus much attention on building strong collaborative relationships with the individuals and companies that execute the architectural design into the physical built forms for my clients. The factors that make each project unique to my clients are different, however what has developed and become a main philosophy for me has been a collaborative approach where mutual respect is developed and relied upon.
I have been in the architectural industry since 2000, in multiple states across the country. My experience includes custom residential, medical and manufacturing facilities as well as interiors in hospitality. I am and have been involved in the architectural process from production through construction administration. Through the years I have continued to provide objectivity to each project in a technical and design manner. With communication and collaboration a well-organized product is delivered for the project.
